Spring has to be my favourite time of the year, and even though the weather in Toronto is a chilly -8° today, I’m dreaming of peonies and pink cocktails and of course, that summer body prep.
You know that ticking sound that starts going in your head that’s counting down to some sun and sand in a two piece? You know the one. That usually starts ticking for me right about now. Luckily, I’ve mastered a few tricks to get me motivated to get my behind back in the gym. Here are my top 4!
Get new sneakers, a couple of new sports bras, some of that super cute Love Fitness Apparel gear all the Instapretties are rocking. It’s not like we need another reason to shop, but getting some new workout threads is only more motivation to go show it off, right?
Get a workout buddy.
Con/Guilt/Convince/Bribe one of your girls (or guys!) into being your workout buddy. This does two things: It makes it harder to skip a workout (because they’re already on their way so now you’re kinda sorta obligated), and it turns it into more of a social event that you can look forward to. If you choose someone that is equally invested in the program, you’re a step ahead!
Commit to a program that works for you.
If you’re a spin class girl, put it in your calendar. If you’re dedicated enough to do the homework thing, set yourself up for one of those 30/60/90 day challenges. If you can’t see yourself doing the same thing every day, amp up the variety with a run here, a pole dancing class there, and a lunch hour yoga sesh to round it all off. Come up with a structure that works for you, and commit to it!
Gym selfies FTW!
I know, I know, no one wants to be “that girl” at the gym, but honestly, yeah we do. That sweat is sexy, you beast mode, fitness diva, #prettygirl you! Show it off! Take in all the compliments that come at the end of a hard workout, and motivate others in your circle to get off their butts too!
