Castillo de Chapultepec, Mexico City

The Castillo de Chapultepec (Chapultepec Castle) was designed in the 18th century as a country home for the local Spanish viceroy, so basically all of my dreams and aspirations are 100% attainable because they’re all slightly less than having a castle as a summer home.

The lower level of the castle now houses the National Museum of History, with tons of displays featuring weapons, jewelry, costumes, and letters tracking Mexico’s history from Spanish colonization in the 16th century to the Mexican Revolution in 1910.

The upper floors have been preserved, so I got to have a glimpse of the home of Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico and his wife Carlota. The rooms are the living definition of opulence, gold chandeliers and all.

Between the flower gardens, the sandstone archways, and the stone pillars, I think I could get used to living in a place like this.
